Boosting the Covid-19 inoculation campaign, another lot of 5,50,500 doses of the Covishield vaccine arrived in Jaipur by flight from Pune on Wednesday. Jaipur had received 37 boxes of the same vaccine on 13 January. The state had received 563,500 doses of vaccines on January 13, including 5,43,500 doses of Covishield and 20,000 doses of Covaxinn.
The state government had asked the central that the number of vaccines it had received on January 13 would be insufficient to vaccinate 4.5 lakh health workers registered with the Co-WIN App to be vaccinated in the state. The state government had to save half of the doses for vaccinating the same healthcare workers after 28 days of receiving the first dose. The vaccine will be distributed from Jaipur to other districts in the state.
Health Secretary Siddharth Mahajan said, “Our vaccine demand has been approved.”
The vaccines arrived in Jaipur yesterday at 4:45 pm by a Pune – Jaipur bound flight. The health department has prepared facilities to store the vaccine at the state-level vaccine storage facilities in Sethi Colony. The vaccines have been stored in the Sethi Colony and will be distributed to other districts from Jaipur.
The vaccines have been kept in a storage facility keeping the required temperature between 2 degrees and 8 degrees Celsius. It will remain under police protection until it is distributed to other districts. Also at the district level, vaccines will remain under police protection, where it will be kept in a district vaccination storage facility.
